During a recent luncheon organized by BAKE (Bloggers Association of Kenya) which was hosted by the US ambassador, I was lucky to meet the beautiful, intelligent and outspoken Ory Okolloh, aka @kenyanpundit. She sat across me at the lunch table airing her views in a gentle but somehow commanding tone that made everyone at the table pay close attention to every word that she uttered.
Ory Okolloh is a Kenyan activist, lawyer, and blogger. She is the Director of Investments at Omidyar Network. She was formerly the Policy Manager for Google Africa. She has worked for Covington and Burling, the Kenya National Commission on Human rights and The World bank. Okolloh is the co-founder of Ushahidi (Swahili: “Witness”), a website that collected and recorded eyewitness reports of violence using text messages and Google Maps.(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) She has given a TED talk about being an activist and currently she maintains the blog Mzalendo, providing an unprecedented look at the doings of Kenya’s parliament.
She truly embraces her African as she is always spotted rocking a natural afro. We support your endeavors in trying to make Kenya a better country and we love your hair Ory Okolloh!
