Ask Chris Hart: Moving On

Dear Chris,

My girlfriend and I recently broke up. We had been dating for two and a half years and I love her with all my heart. I feel angry, sad and lonely. I have not been able to eat or sleep. I am just hurt.

I do not want her in my life anymore but I am finding it very difficult to move on. Please help!

Chris Hart says:

Hi! It is always difficult to move on after the end of a relationship, even a bad one. There is a process involved, very similar to a bereavement, and it takes time. So first of all, accept that you will have these feelings and that they will eventually go. But it will take time.

The process will go faster, and be less intense if you keep yourself busy and maintain a good social life.

& if it seems to be taking forever? Or is it getting worse? See a counsellor..
